Removed Tiny Homes

Their Story

Removed was founded with a simple mission – to show the world a different way to live. We do this by constructing architect designed, sustainable, off-grid homes to the highest standard. It’s our philosophy that the environment and all living beings connected to it, should be treated with the utmost respect.

At Removed, we are passionate about helping fellow humans find alternatives to the current property market. To own your own home in Australia has rapidly become more and more unattainable for a lot of us, the tiny house movement not only provides cost effective and simplified living solutions, but also an opportunity to create a sense of freedom.

The lower price tag in no way comes with lower standards, throughout our entire production process we only work with qualified tradespeople to ensure our homes are built to the highest quality. We pride ourselves on our open communication and transparency so that all of our homeowners are involved every step of the way.

We want to assist the world in the transition towards sustainable and affordable housing. As such, we are constantly working to improve our production methods to reduce wastage, minimise energy consumption and create closed loop supply chains. All of our homes are designed with sustainability as a primary focus.

Whether you are purchasing an additional dwelling for supplementary income, downsizing with the family, retiring or looking to purchase your first home without the mortgage – you all have the opportunity to join the movement.

Toxic Free Living in a Tiny Home

Formaldehyde Free

Formaldehyde is a colorless, flammable gas at room temperature and has a strong odor. Exposure to formaldehyde may cause adverse health effects.

  • Formaldehyde is found in:
  • Resins used in the manufacture of composite wood products (i.e., hardwood plywood, particleboard and medium-density fiberboard);

  • Building materials and insulation;

  • Household products such as glues, permanent press fabrics, paints and coatings, lacquers and finishes, and paper products;

  • The primary way you can be exposed to formaldehyde is by breathing air containing off-gassed formaldehyde. Everyone is exposed to small amounts of formaldehyde in the air that has off-gassed from products, including composite wood products.

For some individuals, Formaldehyde can cause irritation of the skin, eyes, nose, and throat. High levels of exposure may cause some types of cancers.

At Removed, we have the ability to upgrade your Tiny Home so there is very minimal Formaldehyde in your home. All of our Timber, Plywood and Adhesives have a Super E0 rating of Formaldehyde which is the lowest rating possible making your home safe for all individuals.

Mould Prevention

Mould is actually a term for various types of fungi that grow in damp, warm and humid conditions. It reproduces by forming spores and can grow indoors or outdoors, in any environment or season.

Mould can cause severe allergic reactions in human beings and can also damage various surfaces in your home. Any damp area can foster mould growth, from drywall to ceiling tiles, carpets, roofing, behind wallpaper, under sinks and around pipes.

Tiny Home’s on Wheels are especially susceptible to Mould as the foundation the home is built on (the trailer) is exposed to cold air throughout the night, which causes condensation to form every morning. When the moisture evaporates as the temperature increases, the water vapour rises, creating a high risk of mould forming on your home if correct methods aren’t used.

Our standard practices will ensure you are safe from mould, however, if you would like to go above and beyond to ensure your home is safe, we have some upgrades available. Upgrading from Aluminium windows to Timber windows, and utilising a Marine Ply subfloor with additional Vapour Barrier protection below the subfloor, we can add further layers of protection to reduce condensation and the potential risk for mould occurring in your home (these upgrades are great for those who live in more Humid or Cold climates).

EMF Protection

Electric and magnetic fields (EMFs) are invisible areas of energy, often referred to as Radiation, that are associated with the use of electrical power and various forms of natural and man-made lighting.

Research shows that some EMF’s, especially those involving Ionising radiation, can cause fatigue, headaches, decreased learning ability, and cognitive impairment.

If you are concerned about EMF’s, we have the ability to upgrade your cables to shielded cables and include EMF shielding paint for your home to give you the maximum protection from potential harmful radiation.

No VOC’s

  • Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are emitted as gases from certain solids or liquids. VOCs include a variety of chemicals, some of which may have short- and long-term adverse health effects. Concentrations of many VOCs are consistently higher indoors (up to ten times higher) than outdoors.
  • Some sources of VOC’s include:
  • Paints, paint strippers and sealants

  • Wood preservatives

  • Building materials and furnishings

  • Fortunately, there are products on the market that have low or no VOC’s. All glues, sealants, and paints used at Removed contain low to no VOC’s.
